Dave East x Styles P – Beloved

Overnight one of hip hop’s living legends joined forces with a headliner to put out a project to change the climate of music. Dave East and Styles P debuted Beloved at midnight.

Highly anticipated is an understatement when it comes to Beloved. Dave East has been everything except quiet about the release of the joint effort with his favorite artist and fellow New Yorker Styles P. East’s heavy promotion pails in comparison to what the project deserves.

The 13 track effort opens with the meaning of the name David: beloved or friend. From the point forward Harlem and Queens couldn’t have been better represented musically. A true testament the very essence of hip hop Beloved excels lyrically. Storytelling and punchlines find have their well-deserved day in the sun in an era of colorful clothes and dancing rappers.

Styles P let’s the world known entrepreneurship hasn’t taken anything from from his artistry. The Lox member delivered lyrics likely to raise the bar in hip hop to heights unreachable by the majority of artists. Ironically enough, Styles P’s phenomenal performance took nothing away from that of his counterpart. In fact, it may be argued that Styles P set the bar and Dave East arose to the challenge. The 30 year old Harlem representative delivered Instagram caption worthy lyrics of his own matching Styles P line for line.

Undoubtedly, the project was far more than complete simply by being a product of Dave East and Styles P, but the two took things a step further including a handful of solid features. The Lox appear as a trio on the project’s final track “Load My Gun,” sounding a lot like hip hop in the 90s and elevating East’s platform even more.

Dave East’s Paranoia 2 Tour

Over night, Dave East gave fans in Chicago an experience they won’t soon forget. His Paranoia 2 Tour made its way into the Windy City and left a little bit of Harlem for fans to remember him by.

The athlete turned rapper hosted a private listening party and pop up shop before making his way to Joe’s on Weed Street. Paranoia 2 Tour merchandise was available and East took the time to posed for pictures with fans while listening to his latest release Paranoia 2.

His performance at Joe’s was preceded by that of Chicago native and G.O.O.D Music artist Valee. Joined on stage by a host of who’s who from Chicago including socialite and entrepreneur CocoLoso, producer Pressure and branding and media genius NayR. Valee got the crowd rocking and that energy carried over into Dave East’s performance.

Immediately, before East took the stage several artists he co-signs had their opportunity to make a fan in Chicago, but nothing was comparable to what fans came there for. Photographers lined the stage as the six foot five inch rapper, dressed in Gucci, performed several songs from his last for mixtapes. As East bopped across stage, often accompanied by a bottle of champagne or a blunt the Harlem native performed for his fans and his fans performed for him.

Outwardly pleased by the love shown by a city with a reputation for it’s cold behavior, Dave East continuously expressed his love and appreciation for fans in the city. Afterwards the New York representative hosted a meet and greet where he smoked and posed for pictures.

As the tour rolls on, fans in remaining cities have much to look forward to as East does not disappoint.

Dave East Tells A True Story of Paranoia

Though it’s his first release since signing his multimillion dollar deal with Def Jam, Paranoia: A True Story is certainly not Dave East’s inaugural album. The New York native debuted this effort and it is ever impressive.

The 13 track offering is just shy of 45 minutes long and no different from 2016’s Kairi Chanel the features is a list of hip hop’s who’s who. Jeezy, French Montana, Wiz Khalifa and Chris Brown all lend solid appearances to Paranoia: A True Story, but living legend Nas is the real treat.

Dave East’s 90’s flow compliments the his millennial style. His talents as a story teller are personified on songs like “My Dirty Little Secret” and “The Hated.” David East could very well be what the new generation of hip hop is missing.
