Lil Durk – Chiraqimony

In anticipation of his upcoming album Love Song 4 the Streets 2 Lil Durk debuted “Chiraqimony.”

In Lil Durk’s signature melodic flow, “Chiraqimony” address some of the issue that weigh heavy on the rapper. Sandwiched between his person legal woes and his desire to protect his mother’s feelings, Lil Durk addresses the mysterious death of Chicago teenager Kenneka Jenkins and the fact that he still isn’t allowed to perform in the city he calls home.

If “Chiraqimony” is indicative of what’s to come on Love Song 4 The Streets 2 fans have something to look forward.

King Samson – Morrisons

Drill rapper King Samson may be known for his dangerous lifestyle, but in 2018 he should be known for his work ethic. Two days into the year the Chicagoan posted his lasted visual “Morrisons” and two days later it’s doing numbers.

Like many of King Samson’s other songs Morrison’s documents his life as an active gang member. The 29 year old rapper teamed up with Rickee Arts for direction credits on the three minute and 45 second video. The visual is fairly standard as far as music videos these days, equipped with the rapper, several of his friends, expensive jewelry and firearms.

Despite, the rather rudimentary theme of the video “Morrisons” has still garnered the support of fans. The video has been watched on YouTube nearly 6,200 times.

FBG Duck’s Gang Anthem

Early this week Chicago’s FBG Duck debuted the visual for his song “Gang Anthem.” With nearly 150,000 views on YouTube in under four days, it is safe to say it’s a hit.

Directed by fellow Chicagoan, Rickee Arts, the “Gang Anthem” visual is fairly simple in concept however it is still 100 percent effective. FBG Duck and a large group of his comrades bop around in house for the duration of the video, brandishing firearms and throwing gang signs. Elementary to some, but for anyone with a gang of friends, it’s seems pretty accurate.

The song was produced by Pressure and Fatality of 80Apes, making the entire effort a Chicago affair. “Gang Anthem” is three minutes and three seconds of loyalty and camaraderie.

G Herbo is the Humble Beast

After what seems like an eternity for his core fans, G Herbo finally debuted his first studio album entitled, Humble Beast.

Drill music fans across the globe are celebrating Humble Beast and thank goodness “I Like” isn’t indicative of the album’s sound. True to his Chicago roots, the artist formerly known as Lil Herb took listeners on a journey through the life of a gangster from “over east”.

Though, Chicago is no longer where G Herbo resides, this album is a reminder that it will always be home to the rapper. G Herbo mentions 79 and Essex more than once on Humble Beast, reassuring fans and the city that he hasn’t forgotten the streets that raised him.

G Herbo was accompanied on this album by two of today’s most pertinent acts, Lil Yatchy and Lil Uzi Vert. “Mirror” features fellow Chicago native Lil Bibby and in a creative twist the two share the same flow on the song. Chicago hip hop legend Bump J, flexes some lyric muscles for the song “Crown.” Chicago-based crooner Jeremih, also contributed some talent to this project.

#GetWellFoe

After a near fatal car accident earlier in the month, Lud Foe’s latest release is more than a mixtape. #GetWellFoe, released today, is reassurance for Foe’s fans that’s he is still here.

On March 5th, the Chicagoan found himself on the wrong side of a collision with a semitruck. He suffered a slew of injuries, including a broken jaw and the world was sure it would be a while before Lud Foe would be delivering new music. Less than three weeks later, he announced and released his first effort of the year, #GetWellFoe.

#GetWellFoe is a nine track beacon of hope for Foe’s fans and proof that he’s the soldier he claims to be. Though still very much in the recovery process Lud Foe delivered the same hardcore lyrics his fans expect while experimenting with melodic flows.
