Blac Chyna Debuts Deserve

Blac Chyna is known for a plethora of things and now she’s adding rapper to her resume. Yesterday, Blac Chyna debuted her first single “Deserve.”

Vocal Chyna is certainly no new comer to fame and she called in a favor from a few talented friends for her first single. “Deserve” features Chicago crooner Jeremih and Memphis based lyricist Yo Gotti. While it could easily be said that “Deserve” is Blac Chyna’s own brand of female empowerment, the argument that the song promotes gold digging could easily be posed as well.

Though the intentions of the song may be debatable one thing that is certain is Blac Chyna’s fan based. Her following is undoubtedly great enough to make “Deserve” a hit. The only question is will they do that.

G Herbo is the Humble Beast

After what seems like an eternity for his core fans, G Herbo finally debuted his first studio album entitled, Humble Beast.

Drill music fans across the globe are celebrating Humble Beast and thank goodness “I Like” isn’t indicative of the album’s sound. True to his Chicago roots, the artist formerly known as Lil Herb took listeners on a journey through the life of a gangster from “over east”.

Though, Chicago is no longer where G Herbo resides, this album is a reminder that it will always be home to the rapper. G Herbo mentions 79 and Essex more than once on Humble Beast, reassuring fans and the city that he hasn’t forgotten the streets that raised him.

G Herbo was accompanied on this album by two of today’s most pertinent acts, Lil Yatchy and Lil Uzi Vert. “Mirror” features fellow Chicago native Lil Bibby and in a creative twist the two share the same flow on the song. Chicago hip hop legend Bump J, flexes some lyric muscles for the song “Crown.” Chicago-based crooner Jeremih, also contributed some talent to this project.

Chance and Jeremih Gave the World an Early Christmas Present

After sweeping the Grammy nominations and an iconic performance on Saturday Night Live, Chance The Rapper teamed up with fellow Chicagoan Jeremih for a surprise mixtape. Without warning the duo released a Christmas themed mixtape entitled Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama.

The nine-track mixtape is composed of all original Christmas songs. While there is no shortage of references to traditional Christmas carols, this mixtape is nothing like anyone has heard before. Chance and Jeremih weren’t the only Chicagoans lending holiday cheer to the effort, Noname and Lud Foe also make appearances on Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama.

The mixtape is proof that there is no shortage of creativity for the holidays. Jeremih and Chance The Rapper put their own spin on “Carol of the Bells” for “Chi Town Christmas and borrowed the melody from The Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” for “Stranger At The Table”. The title track is a juke song, any Chicago music lover will identify.

Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama is the most fun anyone has ever had for Christmas. A combination of joy, disrespectful break ups, Chicago references and Hennessy spiked eggnog, Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama though unexpected was exactly what the world needed for Christmas.

Dreezy has No Hard Feelings

Released July 15th, No Hard Feelings is the debut LP from Windy City native Dreezy. Two years ago Dreezy burst onto the music scene with her remix to Nicky Minaj’s “ChiRaq” and most recently she’s been climbing the charts with her infectious hit and lead single “Body” featuring fellow Chicagoan Jeremih.

A combination of fun harmonies, hard-core lyrics, Chicago slang riddled skits No Hard Feelings was worth the wait. Though, Dreezy has made it plain she can stand on her own as a lyricist, that didn’t stop a few of hip-hop’s major players from making appearances on the pint-sized beauty’s album including Gucci Mane and T-Pain.

Addressing an array of topics including friendship, relationships and her own road to success, Dreezy used her debut album to solidify herself as a staple in the music industry. No Hard Feelings is available on ITunes now.

August Alsina Takes Flight with Jeremih and J.Cole

As if the original wasn’t enough of a radio hit, put August Alsina on it and see what happens.

If you haven’t already heard, last week the r’n’b heart throb took a moment away from recording his highly anticipated sophomore effort to hop a flight with Jeremih and J.Cole to take every r’n’b fan on a wild ride. Alsina added a new first first verse to the smash “Planes” that has every girl in America trying to buy a boarding pass.

The NOLA bred cutie lent his vocals and his own personal spin on inducting a women into the mile high club, in the auto-tune clad verse. Her induction subsequently has her ejected from the flight and the song goes on, but not without a new adoration from #AlsinaNation.
