Ciara Has the Greatest Love

Is there a better way to remind the world that your marriage is thriving than to release a love song just before Valentine’s Day? According to Ciara there isn’t. Today, she debuted her highly anticipated new single “Greatest Love.

As of late, Ciara and Russell Wilson have been running the rumor mills as stories swirl of the Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback gifting his wife her masters. While the validity of those stories has yet to be confirmed, what the couple continues to confirm is their love for each other. Ciara’s new single “Greatest Love” is evident of that.

The lyrics are an obvious ode to her husband and it sounds like Ciara could not be happier. “Greatest Love” is situated somewhere between sultry and the very popular, but wordy writing style of late. While the idea sounds like a hit, it appears some fans aren’t convinced about the execution.

“Greatest Love” was released exclusively through Ciara’s own record label Beauty Marks Entertainment.

The Messiah Commemorates Mo Mo

After an unexpected split with some long time business partners, The Messiah is back to work. Yesterday, he debuted his new mixtape Mo Mo.

The Messiah’s first project of 2019, Mo Mo is a project close to the rapper’s heart. Mo Mo was named for and dedicated to The Messiah’s childhood friend, Paris Momoh who unexpectedly passed away in October. The 14 track effort not only dons Paris’s nickname Mo Mo, but the cover art is one of The Messiah’s favorite pictures of his friend.

Just more than 40 minutes long, Mo Mo may be The Messiah’s best body of work yet. Mo Mo is split evenly between tracks where Siah puts his own lyrical talent center stage and tracks where he reminds fans that he can hold his own alongside some of the cities most notable artists on the rise. The up and comer shares tracks with Mikey Dollaz, Lil Keisha, and Top Shatta among others.

Mo Mo is available exclusively on The Messiah’s brand new SoundCloud page:

Trell Love – Over My Head

It has been quite sometime since fans have heard from Chicago area rapper Trell Love. But never to worry, he’s back with the brand new single “Over My Head.”

Trell Love has been rather low key since the release of his 2016 EP Waiting On Forever. However after hearing his latest single “Over My Head,” it is safe to assume that Trell Love has been perfecting his craft.

Though “Over My Head” is a only one song, if it is indicative of any upcoming body of work old fans are in for a treat and new fans are on the horizon.

A solid reminder that Trell Love is in a lane of his own “Over My Head” is nothing like what’s on the radio. Produced by The Gift, “Over My Head” is just more than three and a half minutes long. Contrary to the now popular two minute tracks, “Over My Head” not only takes time to develop a storyline, but gives fans enough time to enjoy the song.

Perhaps it’s a bit ironic for Trell Love to release a song about a souring relationship while stores are filled with Valentine’s Day propaganda. Ironic or otherwise, “Over My Head” has come just in time.

Ann Marie – Around

Chicago based singer/songwriter Ann Marie has been on a roll. The January release of her Tripolar 2 EP has been making waves and her new single “Around” is following suit.

“Around” is the sultry tale of a necessarily secret romance between two people who both have significant others. Ann Marie’s vocals are ideal however the song would be incomplete without 147 Calboy. Calboy shows the world a softer side, leaving fans with nothing to want for.

The “Around” visual is simple, but gives a foundation for the song.

Slitta’s More Red

img_1136Slitta is not playing fair and the year just started. Yesterday, the D1CMG artist debuted his second album More Red.

Still riding a wave from his highly successful August debut, Pink & Red, Slitta is showing no signs of slowing down. More Red is already on target to surpass its predecessor, only serving as evidence that Slitta is only getting better and better.

More Red is an 11 track effort produced nearly in its entirety by 80Apes. Despite falling short of the 30 minute mark, More Red leaves nothing to be desired. Slitta reiterates that street life is multifaceted and gives fans a looks at some of those faces.

Slitta’s versatility, talent, and work ethic are on full display for More Red. Slitta is the only artist to appear on the album. Slitta produced nearly half of the track and mixed and mastered the album himself.

The lead single “Just Like That” is indicative of Slitta’s energy. The video for which debuted four days ago. The follow up single “Dirty Game” is a look at the less glamorized portions of street life. The Englewood Trap Angel appears almost vulnerable in the visual. Alone surrounded by papers strewn about an open bottle of cognac and a computer. The simple yet powerful image accentuates Slitta’s lyrics, allowing fans to focus on what matters most: the music.
