Trey Songz’s Jill

Last week, Jill Scott made headlines and gained a ton of new fans after a clip of one of her live shows went viral. In the midst of the chaos it created fellow singer/songwriter Trey Songz paid tribute to the Philly native in an unforgettable way. His latest single: Jill.

The nearly four and a half minute song features a sample of “He Loves Me (Lyzell in E Flat) from Scott’s 2000 debut Who is Jill Scott: Words and Sounds Vol. 1. The combination of Trey Songz and Jill Scott is different in a good way. Leave it to Trey Songz to improve on perfection while paying homage.

A win for Trey Songz to say the least after he debuted the song last night, Jill Scott took to Twitter to give it her stamp of approval. Scott tweeted:

In the midst of simple minded, affection starved foolishness, this song is actually quite beautiful.

Overwhelming CCGmix

Over the weekend Chicago-based lyricist Hunnid debuted his first video of 2018, “Overwhelming CCGmix.”

The CCGmix, is Hunnid’s very own remix to Matt OX 2017 viral hit “Overwhelming.” Though he hails from the Windy City and the songs originator is from Philadelphia, Hunnid chose to use New York for his backdrop. It appears his fans could not careless where to video was filmed, as it has been viewed more than 5,400 times since it made its debut on Friday.

Lil Uzi Vert’s Luv Is Rage 2

It’s been two years since the release of Luv Is Rage, Lil Uzi Vert’s breakout mixtape. The rising star has certainly made a name for himself since then, which has only built anticipation for his debut LP Luv Is Rage 2 it finally made its way into the world today.

Led by the single “XO Tour Llife3” Luv Is Rage 2 seems to combine singing and a combination of popular flows. The Philadelphia native has obviously made a few friends in the industry as the production list for this projects reads like the bill for an A list event and the projects only features come from The Weekend and musical genius Pharrell Williams.

Meek Mill Drops Dreamchasers 4

Despite making headlines recently , Meek Mill has been working. After making several appearances on MMG’s Priorities 5, which hit the internet just last week, the North Philly representative released his own Dreamchasers 4.

The mixtape consists of 14 songs, all of which very in style and subject matter. Far from a solo effort, Meek Mill recruited some of the most popular names in rap music including Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage and Nicki Minaj to aid in making Dreamchasers 4 a hip hop fan’s dream come true.
