Girl Disrupted

After two girl groups and countless features, singles mixtapes and EPs, Sevyn Streeter finally made her solo debut. Not only are congratulations in order, but birthday wishes as well, since the release comes on the singer-songwriter’s 31st birthday.

Sevyn Streeter has been linked to some of the biggest names in hip hop and rnb penning records for Trey Songz, Tamar Braxton, Arianna Grande and Chris Brown, so it’s only right that the Florida native write her own. Girl Disrupted opens with the singer describing  how she went into creating her album focused on perfection; perfect lyrics, perfect sounds and the perfect title. She admits when she chose the title Girl Disrupted she had no idea it would be her story, but after battling depression the rnb songstress is standing on a solid release.

Composed of 13 tracks, Girl Disrupted is just shy of an hour long. Clearly Sevyn Streeter has made some friends in the industry, as her album has an allstar list of features. Hit maker The-Dream, DeJ Loaf, Dave East and Ty Dolla $ign are amoung those who lended their talents to make Girl Disupted  success. The 31 year- old even joined forces with Nola born crooner August Alsina for a duet.

It’s been nearly 16 years in the making, but Girl Disrupted was worth the wait. Check it out: Girl Disrupted

Sevyn Streeter Hits a High Note with My Love For You

Sevyn Streeter seems to be preparing for her debut LP in a major way. The 30 year-old songstress recently released “Prolly” which gathered the attention of hip hop and r’n’b fans alike by featuring the most talked about rapper of the year: Gucci Mane.

This time around she’s taken a different approach to capturing the music world’s attention and it is r’n’b in its truest form. Her most current single, “My Love For You”, was released Friday, September 16. The Florida native put her vocal range on display to remind the world why the singer/songwriter has had such success in the industry to date.

Quite possibly the definitive love song of the year, Streeter certainly took a step away from the ever so popular “do me baby” theme currently looming over r’n’b. Proclaiming that her significant other is the only man with her attention.

Her debut LP, Girl Disrupted, is scheduled for an early 2017 release. Until then Streeter is rumored to dropped an new song each month.

Too Much Fun for Sevyn Streeter and Chris Brown?

It looks like Chris Brown has teamed up with his protégé, Sevyn, again for her new single “Don’t Kill the Fun.” It was only a matter of time before the duo made an effort to score a follow up hit for their 2013 smash, “It Won’t Stop”, but is this the song to do it. The go-go inspired track, is rumored to has been produced by Rich Harrison who is responsible for Beyoncé’s “Drunk In Love’ and  Amerie’s “1 Thing”. Harrison also worked with Streeter when she served as 1/4 of the short live r’nb girl group Rich Girl.

Sevyn Streeter and Chris Brown fans seem to be showing the song, released on iTunes, today love. It even merited tweets from actor, journalist and former 106 and Park host Terrence J, performer Ty Dolla $ign and actor turned singer/rapper (Tristan) Mack Wilds.

The r’n’b/ pop mash up has a horn heavy sound almost reminiscent of merengue and very similar to Ne-Yo’s “She Knows”. Probably not the sound expected from “nEXt” singer but maybe this change in direction will still be fun.
