Chimeka is Not Crazy

Today, Chimeka debuted the second part to her highly anticipated EP trio entitled Crazy.

The nine track effort takes fans on a journey through the inner workings of the unicorn’s mind. Crazy opens with a reflection on how she knew as a child that she wasn’t crazy, she was different. She shares that difference via a creative combination of lyricism and vocal talent only the way Chimeka could.

Crazy reiterates that Chimeka is in a lane all her own. The multitalented beauty addresses a plethora of issues, providing her own colorful commentary. The Harvey-based singer, rapper and unicorn displays a level of unprecedented versatility, delivering melodies equally as strong as her lyrics and as important to this project as the subject matter.

While Chimeka’s talent was never up for debate, Crazy is reminder that the femcee has more than enough talent to stand on her own. Though she needs no one to bolster her, Chimeka recruited the highly decorated Keith James and up and comer Solo The Dweeb in the only supporting roles for this project.

With her talent on full display Chimeka shines a light on herself, of which she is undoubtedly deserving. A perfectly planned step up from her last release, Crazy only increases the hype for Chimeka’s next release. Though fans will be antsier than ever, it’s best that they muster the patience to enjoy Crazy in all of it’s 25 minute glory. To describe the project as solid would be an understatement, Crazy is definitely a hit.

Chimeka’s Don’t Do Coke

Anyone in Chicago last night, but not at Subterranean, missed one hell of a show. Chimeka headlined the sold out Don’t Do Coke and it was dope.

The Harvey born artist formerly known as Chin Chilla Meek opened her show by establishing that she was changing the culture, and she did indeed. As the headliner or the show she performed first, encouraging fans to always show up on time and praising the acts to come after her.

While changing the culture, Chimeka took fans on a ride they won’t soon forget. With DJ BMan and a live band, the rapper/singer performed recent and past hits. Chimeka proved that real fans withstand rebranding and Chicago has the littest female rappers ever, when Shawnna joined her on stage. The two performed 2011’s “Fucked Up.”

Chimeka performed four of the six tracks from her most recent EP Cool, including her latest single, “Elevator Music,” which she performed twice. In a nod to incarcerated Harvey rapper Ty Money, the multitalented beauty performed 2016’s “Sibley XVI” and referred to him as the King of Sibley.

Who’s who in the City made up the audience of the self proclaimed unicorn’s sold out show. Don’t Do Coke was proof that hip hop is alive and well in Chicago, artist do support each other and Chicago knows how to come together and have a good time.

Netflix, The Video

What’s Valentine’s Day without a little music? Feel free to thank Chimeka for that. The multitalented performer premiered the video for her single “Netflix” today.

Both sultry and sexy, the song is perfect for Valentine’s Day. The visual comes six months after the single’s release, however it is right on time.

Starring Chimeka, “Netflix” documents what appears to be the perfect romance with a twist. The lyrically apt beauty also shares a scene with a unicorn, but it’s Chimeka what did you expect?

Samcin was the creative genius behind it all and it was captured by the lense of Phil Jordan. It’s safe to say as a pair they captured the rapper, singer, songwriter and unicorn at her best.
